Postgraduate Diploma Programme in Peace Building and Sustainable Development, 2026-2027

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the Postgraduate Diploma in Peacebuilding and Sustainable Development jointly offered by the South Asia Centre for Peace Research and Sustainable Development (SACPRSD), established by the South Asia Foundation-Nepal(SAF-Nepal) and Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU). The programme integrates Peacebuilding and Sustainable Development through the teachings of Gautam Buddha, preparing graduates for impactful careers in diverse sectors.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Academic Qualification – Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
  • Experience – Prior experience in community development, social work, or related fields preferred but not mandatory.
  • Motivation – Demonstrated interest in peacebuilding, social justice, and sustainable development.
  • Language Proficiency – Working knowledge of written and spoken English.

COURSE STRUCTURE & CREDITS

  • Duration: 1 year (2 semesters) – Total Credits: 40
  • Mode: Blended learning (classroom, online modules, field placement, and independent study)

Semester I

  • Core Courses (3 papers): 12 credits
  • Understanding Peace and Peacebuilding
  • Understanding Sustainable Development
  • Research Methods for Peacebuilding and Sustainable Development
  • Field Placement / Internship: 4 credits
  • Elective (Choose One): 4 credits – Gender and Peacebuilding / Environmental Peacebuilding / Media and Peacebuilding / Transitional & Restorative Justice and Trauma Awareness / International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights

Semester II

  • Core Courses (3 papers): 12 credits
  • Peacebuilding in Practice
  • Buddhist Ideas of Sustainability
  • Leadership & Communication for Peacebuilding and Sustainable Development
  • Independent Study & Project: 4 credits
  • Elective (Choose One): 4 credits – Conflict & Violence in South Asia / Nations, States & Regional Peacebuilding / Financial Management for Sustainable Development / Digital Marketing for Social Impact / Community Development and Empowerment
